 Hi!  I am Karen Franchetti, the Physical Education teacher here at St. Joe. I have a lot of activities planned for this year and can’t wait to get started.  Here are some things you need to know: 

 

Uniforms: gray t-shirt:  big paw print on top

                                      Wildcat emblem on left side of chest

                                       long sleeve with paw prints on arm

                  red sweat pants

                  red gym shorts: wildcat emblem on leg

                  red or gray sweat shirt: zip-up or hoodie or pull-over

                                       Gr. 5-8 can wear the black team sport sweatshirts

                                       that say ST. JOSEPH. No other black sweatshirt is

                                       allowed.

                   sneakers: athletic sneakers that tie are preferred.

                                   No skate board shoes or heelies

      * This is the last year to wear the white tee shirt & sweatshirt with the wildcat

         emblem.  We have switched to gray.

 

Jewelry: try not to wear to class

               Post earrings – No hoops or dangling earrings

                Girls – hair should be tied back away from face

 

Activities: April
Gr. 4-8: Gymnastics & tumbling: students will make up their own routines using
5 or more of the stunts & skills demonstrated in class. This will count as 1
Gym class grade.
Rolls – log, forward, backward, standing dive roll
Balances – tip-up, tripod, headstand, handstand, cartwheel, Bridge, walking stick,
round-off, Y-scale, etc.

Gr. K-3: parachute skills: wave, mushroom, igloo, circle R & L, move across gym,
popcorn, golf, color game, cat & mouse.

Pre K: parachute skills: same as above but performed at lower level.

Activities: May
Gr. 4-8: Students will play a variety of games that uses a baseball field.
Throwing, catching, fielding skills & social interaction will be learned.
Kickball, fog ball, tennis baseball, paddle ball & softball will be played

Gr. 2-3: Students will learn the basics of kickball & fog ball.
PreK-1: Stations: coordination, throwing, catching, kicking.
Students will use balls, balloons, mats, hoops, etc. to help increase their gross
& fine motor skills.

Activities: June
Students will have a review of activities learned through the year.


Between units – dodgeball, relay races
