Music Class

Ms. Marilyn DeLuca-Viventi

The music program utilizes activities that are age appropriately sequenced so as to develop the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains of learners of all learning styles. The materials used  are high quality and represent varying styles of music.  The student consistently experiences music through performance as well as listening. Vocal repertoire is age appropriately selected to expand vocal skills.

The student learns concepts and skills through experience, imitation, and exploration.  These concepts include pitch, tone color or timbre, rhythm, melody, form and texture.  The student will be able to identify and describe these concepts in music of different styles and genres throughout history.  Activities are also provided to build music literacy including music reading and critical thinking.  Art, drama, dance and literature are integrated to develop the students' awareness of a culture's varied aspects of artistic expression.
