We have been asked by Dr. Corwell to re-issue the attached Action Alert now that it is getting closer to “crunch” time for the Governor’s 2019-2020 Budget
Please to take the time to use the Voter Voice (the link for this is at the bottom of the Action Alert) to make our position known to the legislators. At last count, the Diocese of Camden had just shy of 1000 Voter Voice messages. But, if we think strictly in terms of numbers, we should have many more than that. If we count every family potentially as two sign-ons, and every faculty and staff member in our schools as well, we could easily reach 5000 or more messages sent to legislators from our Diocese alone! It does not take a lot of time to do what we are asking of our constituents.
THERE IS STILL TIME FOR US TO DO THIS. The Senate and Assembly Budget committees are still meeting, and they will be submitting proposed modifications to the Governor beginning the first week in June. We are guardedly optimistic about getting the increases we are asking for in nursing services, transportation, and in compensatory services for students who need remediation.
As we saw the last few years with the transportation increases, these things do not happen magically, but rather with a lot of hard-fought advocacy on the part of a lot of people.
