Mrs. Aida Colon
I have been teaching at St. Joe’s since 2009. I graduated from The City College of New York with a BA in English. I earned a MA from Glassboro State College in Student Personnel Services. I started my teaching career at Oakcrest High School as an English teacher and English as a Second Language. Before I came to St. Joe’s I was a Guidance Counselor at Absegami High School. I have also been very involved in my Church with the Hispanic community.
Teaching Style/Philosophy/Interesting Things I Do In the Classroom
To learn a second language, students need to develop an array of vocabulary words. After, they need to start putting these words into phrases. At that time they need to start using the language and not be afraid to speak.
What I Like Most About St. Joseph Regional School
The most interesting thing about St. Joe is the interest that the teachers have in their students. The Catholic feeling is felt throughout the school.
Why I Would Recommend St. Joseph Regional School
All the teachers at St. Joe’s take the time to know each student. The atmosphere of the school is very much family oriented.
Interests Outside of Teaching/Personal Life
I enjoy spending time with my family. I also do gardening and work around my house. I belong to an Organization who is involved in doing work with community groups as well as fund raising to donate money to college scholarships in the area.
